Teenage mums can breastfeed just as well as those in their 20’s, 30’s and even 40’s! There’s no difference in the quality or quantity of a young mum's breast milk to that of an older mum's. The only real difference being that a younger mum will need to eat more protein and calorie rich foods while breastfeeding, to maintain the body’s natural stores of energy.

And forget all those myths you might have heard about breastfeeding permanently changing the size and shape of your breasts. It doesn’t, once you stop they’ll return to normal.

Choose to breastfeed and no matter what your age you might need help along the way. Go to our local help and support section and here you’ll find people and organisations who can really make a difference.
