Maternity care assistants

Maternity care assistants are based in the hospital and throughout the community helping midwives in their day to day work, but are also on hand to provide you with support and advice on a number of topics.

They are all experienced in infant feeding, and have plenty of tips for successful breastfeeding!

They can also provide you with advice on other aspects of health promotion, including information on classes that are running in your local area.

Once you have had your baby and you leave hospital, a maternity care assistant can visit you at home along with your community midwife, to continue to support you as your confidence grows while you and your baby find your own routine.
